David Hone (b.1929)The Irish landscape, still-life and portrait painter David Hone was born in Dublin. He belongs to the academic tradition or style of painting, along with other Irish artists of his generation, such as James le Jeune, Thomas Ryan and Desmond Carrick. Hone is noted for his pensive landscape images, executed using a light pallette. He is a full member and past-President of the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA), with whom he has exhibited since 1948. A self-portrait of David Hone (1965, oil on board) hangs in the National Self Portrait Collection of Ireland at the University of Limerick. David Hone's artworks have been exhibited at numerous shows both in Ireland and abroad, and are represented in several public and private art collections. |
