Cork Vision CentreManaged by Cork Civic Trust and situated within walking distance of the city's artistic, commercial and tourist areas, the Cork Vision Centre is a unique heritage venue allowing visitors the chance to see a fine example of conservation in action, and to explore Cork's past, present, and future. Incorporating a multi-purpose gallery, and other art spaces, the centre hosts numerous visual arts exhibitions throughout the year, featuring contemporary art. It is a truly interesting contributor to the visual arts of Ireland. Utilized by a range of community and other art-related clients, St. Peter's Church (built in 1783) was rescued from near dereliction and redeveloped as an arts and cultural venue on two levels. The gallery and other art areas are used for visual arts exhibitions, lectures, seminars, workshops, recitals and receptions. |
Artists Irish artists who have shown at the Cork Vision Centre, include: Colaiste Stiofan, Sheena Jolley, P.J. O' Regan, Mieke Vanmechelen, Jesse de la Cour, Pippo Borello, and Dennis Spillane. Display Model of Cork The Centre's other main attraction is a detailed 1:500 scale model of Cork city, showing how it has grown over the year, which provides a fascinating visual story for first-time visitors.
