Mill Cove Gallery, CastletownbereOpened in 2000 to exhibit contemporary fine art, the Mill Cove Gallery in Castletownbere is located on the Beara Peninsula, overlooking the sea and Bere Island. A unique Cork art venue, it is part of a trio of art galleries - the other two being the Mill Cove Gallery in Kenmare County Kerry, and The Hallward Gallery on Merrion Square in Dublin. Between them, these art venues have 50 years experience of exhibiting and collecting contemporary visual art from Ireland and overseas. All seek to promote the best of contemporary Irish artworks and provide a first class venue for both emerging and established Irish artists. The Hallward Gallery itself organizes numerous shows, predominantly solo exhibitions (eg. by Bernadette Madden, Mary Donnelly, Linda Shevlin and John Brennan), as well as three group exhibition a year featuring a range of invited artists. In addition, the Gallery acts as an agent for certain artists including Christopher Banahan, John Behan, Sandra Bell and Carmel Benson promoting their artwork in Ireland and abroad. |
