Vangard GalleryOpened in Cork in 1991, the Vangard Gallery is dedicated to promoting international as well as Cork art throughout the Munster region in the South of Ireland. It now has a reputation for showing high quality Irish painting, and Irish sculpture and prints by emerging as well as established Irish and international artists. Located close to the Crawford Art Gallery in the heart of Cork city, until just recently, the Vangard stages 12 exhibitions each year. The Vangard Gallery is owned and run by John P. Quinlan. His skill in appraising quality paintings, and his ability to persuade top artists (eg. Sean MacSweeney, Michael Cullen, Jane and Tony O'Malley) to exhibit their works, has been the foundation of his success. In 2000, the Gallery moved from Macroom to the pedestrianised Huguenot quarter of Cork city, but returned to Macroom in 2009. |
