Photo Museum of Ireland: Temple BarFounded in 1978, the Photo Museum Ireland (formerly Gallery of Photography) is now Ireland's preeminent venue for fine art photography, hosting exhibitions involving many of the greatest photographers from north and south of the border as well as overseas. Since 1995, the Gallery of Photography has occupied a purpose built space with fully fitted darkrooms in Meeting House Square, and is one of the Dublin's important visual arts centres. See also: Is Photography Art? The Gallery, being a non-profit organization, is financed by the Arts Council, the Dublin Corporation and donations from members and other art-lovers. It is one of the most interesting contributors to visual arts in Ireland. |

Group Visits and Opening Hours The Gallery of Photography welcomes Groups who may tour the premises and receive talks on the current exhibition, free of charge. Note: the Gallery of Photography exhibition spaces and darkroom facilities are completely accessible for wheelchair-bound individuals. The Gallery is open Tuesdays-Saturdays, 11am-5pm; Mondays by appointment, closed on Sundays. Courses And Workshops The Gallery of Photography is pleased to offer a range of courses in photography, taught by experienced photographic experts. Recent courses have included: Introduction to SLR Photography
Wet Plate Collodion Workshop Smartphone Photography Workshop Portraiture Lighting and Direction for Portrait and Fashion These courses in lens-based art and practice take place in the Gallery's Darkrooms at Meeting House Square. |
