College for Creative Studies, Detroit

About
The College for Creative Studies (CCS) was started in 1906. It offers Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees in 11 majors and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degrees in 2 majors. The BFA requires first year students, in addition to their chosen major to take courses in the Foundation Department where they study colour theory, drawing and basic design. Students of all majors also take courses in the Liberal Arts designed to provide a greater understanding of arts in a social and cultural context. BFA majors are offered in various types of art including fine arts, illustration, interior design, advertising, animation, digital graphics, art education, crafts, photography, product and transportation design. The two MFA courses offered are in design and transportation design.

The Arts Department at Kalamazoo College allows students to major in Studio Art and Art History. The School of Art & Design (A&D) is one of 19 schools and colleges at the University of Michigan, and was established as an independent unit in 1974. The School offers 4 visual art degree programs: BFA in Art & Design and BA in Art & Design for more academically inclined students. For graduates, there is a 3 year Master of Fine Art (MFA) in Art & Design.
