Art Academy of Cincinnati, Cincinnati

About
Established in 1869, the Art Academy of Cincinnati offers undergraduate degrees in Fine Arts, Communication Arts and Art History. Undergraduate majors are offered in various types of art including: drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, illustration, history of art, photography and visual communication design. All undergraduate programs are based on a 1-2-1 model. Year 1: Foundation, the entire freshman class carries out core lessons together. Years 2&3: Major studies, students disperse into their chosen majors. Year 4: Advanced tutorials and team-taught courses. Master’s degree in Art Education (MAAE) and an Associate’s degree in Graphic Design are also offered. The Academy's 3 galleries exhibit art by students, faculty members and the larger community.

Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland

About
Founded in 1882, the Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA) is an independent college of art and design for the visual arts. The CIA offers 19 majors in art, craft, design and integrated media. All of these 4 year undergraduate programs lead to a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA). For those who would like to go on to teach, the college also offers a 4+1 degree program in partnership with Case Western Reserve University. Once you earn your BFA from CIA, you can apply to Case Western to become a licensed visual arts teacher with only one additional year of study.

In 1981 the college purchased a former Ford automobile assembly factory, which is now a listed building and houses the department of painting, sculpture, glass, ceramics, graphic design, illustration and photography/video. The departments of jewellery design and metalwork, industrial design, printmaking, medical illustration, printmaking and liberal arts are housed in the George Grund Building on East Boulevard.

Columbus College of Art & Design, Columbus

About
Established in 1879 the Columbus College of Art & Design offers Bachelor of Fine Arts (BA) & Master of Fine Arts (MFA). It also offers undergraduate majors in fine art, illustration, animation, industrial design, interior design, media arts, photography, advertising and graphic design. Dual majors are available but these typically take longer than the traditional 4 year degree program. Minors are offered in art history, art therapy, copywriting, creating writing, design history, fashion design, fine arts, literature and media studies. The college also offers a post-baccalaureate program in the teaching of visual art which earns a teaching license from the state of Ohio.

Miami University, School of Fine Arts, Oxford

About
The School of Fine Arts at Miami University offers 10 undergraduate degrees, 7 minors and 6 degrees at graduate level. Degrees are offered through the departments of Art; Architecture + Interior Design; Music and Theatre and through programs of the Miami University Art Museum and Performing Arts Series. Graduate programs are available in art education and studio art. Undergraduate majors available in: art, art education, architectural history, graphic design, and studio art (with concentrations in painting, sculpture, ceramics, metals, photography, printmaking, animation and digital imaging). Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, the college's graduate program is ranked in the top 100 nationwide.

Ohio University, School of Arts, Athens

About
The School of Arts at the Ohio University offers Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees with majors in painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, graphic design, printmaking and interior architecture. The ceramics program was ranked No. 7 nationally in 2009 and the fine arts No.58. Bachelor of Arts (BA) are available with majors in art and art history. The School of Arts recognizes those students with outstanding ability through a Departmental Honors Program. Throughout the academic year visiting artists, historians, art critics and designers are invited to lecture. The Cube 4 Gallery provides graduates and undergraduates with exhibition space to show their work. The Kennedy Museum of Art is located on the grounds of the Ohio University campus and features significant collections of Native American textiles and jewelry and a renowned collection of prints. Additionally the Ohio University Art Gallery provides a 2500 sq ft exhibition space and hosts exhibitions by national and international acclaimed professional artists. It also hosts the Master of Fine Arts graduate exhibitions. The Trisolini Gallery, also on campus, is mainly used for site installations by students.
